Southampton 2040 Transport Strategy - Survey now open

Southampton City Council is calling for your views on its draft transport strategy to transform Southampton's transport network over the next twenty years.

Connected Southampton – Transport Strategy 2040 forms part of the fourth Local Transport Plan for the city and proposes a number of ideas and proposals, which you can now have your say on.

These include:

  • Developing a Mass Rapid Transit for Southampton and the wider area that transforms the public transport experience

  • Creating a Liveable City Centre where it is easy for people to walk and cycle

  • Developing a network of Active Travel Zones in local neighbourhoods that discourage through traffic and encourage people to adopt new, more active ways of making local journeys

  • Completing a comprehensive Cycle Network for Southampton that enables people to cycle safely and establishes Southampton as a true cycling city

  • Establishing a network of Park and Ride sites that serve Southampton and large employers

  • Supporting growth and the smooth operation of the city’s main employment areas, ensuring they are served by efficient, modern and reliable transport connections

  • Working towards a Zero Emission City to make Southampton a clean and healthy place to live

The survey went live yesterday and runs until Tuesday 16 October - make sure you share your views and help to make Southampton a more successful, healthy, modern, sustainable and inclusive city.
