Workplace Travel Grant

Southampton City Council is committed to improving air quality, reducing congestion on our roads and empowering people to make informed travel choices, which can have a positive impact on their health and well-being.

As part of our workplace offering, we provide the opportunity for businesses in Southampton, Eastleigh, Winchester and Portsmouth to apply for funding to support the delivery of sustainable travel measures in their organisation.

 


 

We are now accepting applications for funding through the 'Workplace Travel Grant 2020-21'.

ROUND 2 APPLICATIONS CLOSE 09 JANUARY 2021

In order to be eligible for a match funded grant of up to £5k, your organisation must satisfy our criteria. For further information including who can apply and what the grant can and cannot be used for, please refer to the below guidance.

What kind of things have businesses used the grant funding for?

Ordnance Survey used their funding to install tracking technology at their on site cycle parking. Staff had a tracking chip installed on their ID badge enabling cycle journeys to be mapped, helping input into improved cycle infrastructure.

Aviva Health used their funding to purchase hybrid bikes for staff to use when travelling off site to meetings and for lunch time physical activity. The company also purchased helmets and locks to ensure riders and the bikes were safe when used.

 

Hampshire Fire and Rescue used their funding to install a safe and secure cycle parking facility at Eastleigh Fire Station. This now provides reassurance to members of staff that their bike will be safe and secure when left at work.

 

Monty's Bike Hub used their funding to purchase a new Cargo Bike. The new bike is used to transport their bike doctor equipment across the city to support deliver their FREE Bike Doctor service in the community.

 

Condor Office Solutions used their funding to purchase two electric bikes for staff to use to deliver supplies to local clients around the Eastleigh area.

 

The University of Southampton used their funding to purchase and install cycle parking across a number of sites. They also used funding to purchase bike locks, which were issued to staff and students when the Bike Doctor service was on site.

Westquay Shopping Centre (Hammerson Plc) used their funding to refurbish the existing undercover cycle parking in one of their main multi-storey car parks. The intention is to make the new safe secure under cover cycle parking available to neighbouring businesses for their staff.

The Association of British Ports - Southampton used their funding to install changing facilities at one of their office blocks in order to encourage staff to cycle to work.
