Cycling and COVID-19
Reducing the use of cars makes our roads safer, protects our environment and improves local air quality. Keeping active by walking and cycling is beneficial to our physical health and fitness, and reduces stress.
The UK Government has produced guidance on safe walking and cycling during the COVID-19 pandemic which recommends;
- keeping a suitable distance from other people, for example at crossings and traffic lights,
- washing your hands for at least 20 seconds or using sanitiser, before and after your walk or cycle,
- making a list of items to take with you including a face covering, a plan for your journey, phone for contactless payments, hand sanitiser, essential medicines and tissues.
More information about safe travel may be found on the Government website.
Visit the Cycling UK website for regularly updated advice on how cycling (including group cycling) may be affected by COVID-19 and for ways to minimise your risks.
