COVID-19 (Coronavirus): Public Transport, Travel & Parking Update

Published on 24 March 2020

An update on recent Public Transport, Travel & Parking changes as a result of COVID-19 (Coronavirus):

TIME RESTRICTIONS LIFTED ON CONCESSIONARY TRAVEL

As of Monday 23 March, Southampton City Council has lifted time restrictions on concessionary bus travel until further notice. This means passengers will be able to use their concessionary cards on any bus service across the city before 9am. This will help those who do still need to travel in order to access important services such as shops and healthcare facilities.

FREE PASSAGE ON ITCHEN TOLL BRIDGE

As of 7pm on Monday 23 March, everyone will be able to cross Itchen Bridge free of charge. This will be reviewed in three weeks' time.

PARKING

Permit parking restrictions will now not be enforced in Resident Parking Zones 1 – 18, 20, 22 and 23 (the other zones are non-residential). This will be reviewed on 30 April 2020. Charges still apply to both on-street and off-street pay and display parking as well as within the barrier controlled car parks. Card payments (including contactless) can be made at all of these locations.
