Living Streets: Walk to School for Primary
Who are Living Streets?
Living Streets are the charity for everyday walking. A generation ago, 70% of us walked to school – now it’s less than half. So their aim is to create a walking nation, free from congested roads and pollution. And we are working with them to help achieve this on the school run.
How can your primary school get involved?
WOW - the year round walk to school challenge: WOW is a pupil-led initiative to encourage children and their parents and carers to walk to school. Pupils record how they travel to school using an interactive website called Travel Tracker, and can earn badges if they actively travel to school. Find out more here. It can help towards your Modeshift, Healthy Schools and Eco School accreditations.
Fully funded places available now!
Badge design competition: Every year Living Streets hold a badge design competition. Put your pupils’ imagination to work and be in with a chance of their designs being made into WOW badges for the next year. Find out more.
Happy Shoesday: is a fundraising event that takes place in May on the Tuesday of Walk to School Week. Children and grown-ups wear the shoes that make them happiest, helping us create safer, more walkable streets for all. Next event date: May 2021. Find out more.
Walk to School Week: Take part in a five-day walking challenge alongside WOW or as stand-alone activity to encourage pupils and parents to swap their school run for a school walk. Next event date: May 2021. Find out more.
