Living Streets WOW Campaign W1- COMING SOON
Living Streets’ WOW Campaign is a pupil-led initiative where children log their daily journeys using the WOW Travel Tracker, earning badges for travelling actively at least once a week. Participating in WOW can support a school’s Travel Plan and Modeshift accreditation by helping meet multiple travel initiatives and boosting engagement with sustainable travel.
Walk to School Month (Walktober) W7
October marks International Walk to School Month, celebrated in Hampshire as Walktober—a fun, active initiative led by Hampshire County Council’s Travel Planning Team. It encourages children, families, and school communities to walk, wheel, scoot, or cycle to school, promoting healthier lifestyles, cleaner air, and stronger community connections.
Walking
Trips W11
Walking offers numerous benefits for learners of all ages, including promoting positive travel habits and enhancing physical and mental wellbeing. Incorporating educational walks into the school timetable can reinforce pedestrian skills and enrich learning experiences just outside the school gates, making it a valuable addition to the school’s travel plan.

Scooter Storage Installed W12
Scooters are a fun, healthy, and sustainable way for children to get to school, helping reduce traffic and improve air quality. To support families in choosing this option, schools should provide safe and accessible scooter storage—whether it’s a simple rack or a covered shelter. Having the right infrastructure makes it easier for pupils to scoot confidently and regularly.
Scooter Club W13
The Scooter Club promotes the benefits of scooting, such as improved physical health and environmental awareness, while teaching safety and proper etiquette. It encourages pupils to enjoy scooting and advocate for sustainable travel habits, supporting the school’s goal of achieving Modeshift STARS accreditation.
Active Travel Breakfast W14
Kickstart the school day with an Active Travel/Bikers Breakfast, offering a healthy breakfast to those who arrive by active travel. This fun and inclusive event can involve students, parents, and staff, and could become a regular monthly or termly feature to promote physical activity and environmental awareness.
Accessibility Audit W16
Conducting audits of footways and active travel infrastructure around schools helps engage children with their environment, identify barriers to active travel, and promote inclusion. These audits can focus on specific issues like accessibility or crossings, or be general reviews, allowing children to understand and empathize with diverse road users and feel valued in their community.
